Paul Howard Manship (1885-1966), 'Owl', bronze with greenish-black patina, inscribed 'P.M.', 3 1/2" H x 7" W. According to information provided by John Manship, the artist's son, this work is a detail from 'Evening', a figural group from 'The Moods of Time' series, which was executed in 1938 for the New York World's Fair in 1939-40. (Citation from Edwin Murtha, 'Paul Manship', New York, 1957). Provenance: Sotheby's, 1334 York Avenue, New York, New York, purchased in 1986.
